The heart of Aclara’s consumer engagement solution, the Aclara Adaptive Consumer Engagement (Aclara ACETM) platform, is built on more than 15 years of working in close partnership with utility customers.  Aclara provides a wide range of programs built on Aclara ACE that offer a combination of innovative approaches to generate consistent and measurable results for behavioral energy efficiency, customer self-service and the smart grid.  

 

The successful candidate will identify, develop and close new sales opportunities for ACE consumer engagement solution within an assigned territory for electric, gas and water utilities. The Sales Director, Consumer Engagement will develop and maintain strong relationship with key clients, regulatory personnel, industry consultants and other market influencers. Additionally, communicate market information for Company’s strategic planning and developing key account sales strategies in support of Company’s revenue and profit objectives.

 

Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

  • Assume sales lead responsibility for all industry accounts in an assigned territory.
  • Develop a sales plan for the assigned territory and create new business in the territory.
  • Manage strategic relationships with consultants and partners
  • Monitor and report on the activities of Competitors.
  • Create and deliver effective sales presentations.
  • Acquire technical knowledge of all our products.
  • Coordinate with other Aclara employees to ensure successful projects.
  • Meet and exceed assigned quotas.
  • Increase sales in assigned territory.

 

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Continuously update assigned account information in salesforce.com.
  • Attend industry trade shows assigned throughout the year.
  • Use all tools provided by company to manage, adapt sales strategies and track account activities.
  • Assist in the preparation of RFP response.
  • Build strong relationships with accounts prior to a RFP being issued.
  • Set proposal response strategy and manage the process.
  • Prepare and present all required reports to upper management.

Qualifications

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

 

Required:

 

  • Minimum of an Associate’s degree
    • In lieu of the degree, 8 or more years of direct selling experience with a High School Diploma or equivalent will be considered.
  • Minimum of five years system level direct selling experience within the utility market.
  • Advanced understanding of the major utility market.
  • Proven sales results in major utility markets.
  • Ability to effectively communicate independently or as a member of a team.
  • Ability to work independently without daily supervision.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or a related discipline.
  • 5 or more years of industry-specific major utility sales experience.
  • Effective use of Miller Heiman selling process
  • Strong knowledge of utility market with experience in gas, water or electric sectors

Physical Demands:

  • Minimum 50% travel via airplane and/or car.
