Overview

Provide expert technical leadership, software architecture, design and development for a family of multi-tier 24x7 hosted web applications that scale to millions of users and a workflow solution for calculating and delivering email and SMS alerts to consumers. The applications focus on the consumer presentment and analysis of billing and AMI data. This would include expertise in Microsoft .NET technologies, Oracle Server database, WCF Services, Web Services, scalable systems, web security among other experience. Lead a team of mid-level and junior engineers providing coaching and hands on leadership

Responsibilities

  • Assume a leadership role in the design, development, testing, maintenance and enhancement of applications written in high level languages (C#, VB.NET, JQuery) with limited guidance from manager or software architect
  • Guide team development efforts towards successful project delivery
  • Provide technical leadership to teammates through coaching and mentorship
  • Maintain high standards of software quality within the team by establishing good practices and habits
  • Work closely with SMEs and Product Management to validate and realize detailed product requirements that satisfy client needs
  • Work with architect to ensure that product architecture is cohesive and adhering to required functional and non-functional requirements like performance and security
  • Research and analysis of new technologies and frameworks to adopt and integrate into the Energy Vision product family
  • Assist software QA management in the control of unit and functional test plans/applications for the exhaustive stress-testing of developed code and modules
  • Author and review artifacts from all phases – uses cases, estimates, high-level designs, low- level designs, code, test cases – to make sure they meet requirements
  • Perform gap analysis on current solutions to determine areas of improvements as needed
  • Re-factor legacy software to provide more flexible solutions aligned with corporate goals
  • Lead by example and ensure development standards and processes are followed across team
  • Identify complex issues in a timely manner and provide mitigation recommendations to the Engineering Manager
  • Communicate as needed with Project Managers, Senior Developers, Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), and Product Managers to ensure architectural vision for the product
  • Interface with clients when needed

Qualifications

Required:

  • 6+ years of strong experience using distributed development with strong competencies of database programming with a C derivative using MS SQL Server or Oracle
  • Expertise in C, C++, and/or C# with WCF based Web Service development.
  • Expertise with web based development; HTML, XML, XSLT, Javascript, Jquery, etc.
  • Applying design pattern structural, creational, behavioral patterns to the design problems.
  • Practices applying SOLID Software Design Principles.
  • Expertise in performance tuning of applications
  • Thoroughly knowledgeable with all aspects of software development lifecycles
  • Ability to quickly learn new technologies
  • Strong analytic and problem solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent time management skills, including multi-tasking and prioritization
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including mentoring and performance feedback

 

Preferred:

  • Experience with developing performant/scalable/high-availability systems; specifically performance/reliability issues – concurrency, deadlocks, race conditions, database contention, transactions, error handling/recovery and self-correction, applying profiling, memory analysis and thread dumps
  • Experience with Microsoft AppFabric for Windows or Azure, or other ESB frameworks or workflow engines
  • Working knowledge of or experience with the AMR/AMI industry
