Overview

As the leader in smart grid technology and service, Aclara integrates modern communications, electronics and analytics for use by utilities to increase data gathering that enables more refined control, management and automation in efforts to improve efficiency, reliability and overall performance of electric, water and gas networks.

 

This position’s activities center principally in the field support of TWACS SCE, RCE, and Masterstation software training and support. Provide full TWACS level support including customer field support for Installation, Maintenance and Training of TWACS Master Station, Meter Integration, RCE and SCE field equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide on-site customer start-up of Masterstation and Substation equipment.
  • Provide on-site follow up TWACS Masterstation Software, SCE and Meter/Module training, assisting customers during initial deployment phase.
  • Become familiar with the operation and maintenance of all TWACS products, gaining working knowledge of all required TWACS Test Equipment.
  • Ensure compliance in meeting Aclara customer Service Level Agreements (SLAs) through timely contact and issue resolution.
  • Keep detailed notes and track customer issues through case management software.
  • Support Aclara’s efforts in providing solutions diligently to any problem and/or customer concerns.
  • Identify and communicate in a timely fashion, design deficiencies, customer concerns, and quality problems to the proper Aclara personnel.
  • Support the International team efforts in successfully deploying, monitoring and getting acceptance of all pilots and/or projects.
  • Prepare and deliver reports on field results and/or work in a timely manner.
  • Support Engineering during development of new (both pre and post) development test and design analysis.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Minimum of a BS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Two or more years of Field Engineering Work.
  • Two or more years Customer interface experience.
  • Computer experience – Operating Systems: Microsoft Windows, and/or UNIX based OS (i.e. Linux, Suse, AIX etc).       Applications such as: Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Oracle SQL.
  • Good organizational and communications skills.
  • Self-motivated and able to work effectively alone as well as part of a team.
  • Able to work in proximity with High Voltage Equipment (i.e. distribution substation, electric poles)
  • Languages: intermediate English, reading, listening, speaking, writing
    • Must be able to write and communicate in language native to the country being supported.
  • Must have or be able to obtain a U.S. Visa.
  • Willing to relocate if necessary.

Physical Demands:

  • Activities may involve up to 75% travel via air or land.
