As the leader in smart grid technology and service, Aclara integrates modern communications, electronics and analytics for use by utilities to increase data gathering that enables more refined control, management and automation in efforts to improve efficiency, reliability and overall performance of electric, water and gas networks. 

 

Responsible for leading the conceptualization, design, development, deployment of production test equipment for Aclara’s microprocessor controlled radio products.

 

Responsibilities

  • Development incorporates all aspects of design from concept to production launch.
  • Interacts in a team environment working with others to achieve the best possible end product from all functional viewpoints.
  • Synthesizes design inputs from various stakeholders and defines overall system behaviors.
  • Develop and implement strategy to validate resulting systems against customer requirements. Thus the design and development responsibilities include the development and implementation of design verification test procedures.
  • Responsible for the overall quality of the system, its performance against requirements and on schedule delivery.
  • Captures and directs corrective actions in response to field complaints and supply issues.
  • Develop platform hardware and software solutions used as a base for product testing.
  • Mentor other Test Engineers and Technicians on platform concepts and advanced test engineering practices.
  • Design test processes with strong data collection capability.
  • Gauge R&R and process capability analysis.
  • Document using established guidelines.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor or higher level degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering Technology.

  • Minimum five (5) years of experience working in the capacity of Test Engineer, with advanced skills at both system and board level in a high volume manufacturing environment.
  • Advanced experience and knowledge using software programs such as C#, C++, VB.NET., SQL.
  • Advanced circuit design skills to support product testing interface requirements.
  • Intermediate understanding of DFMA/DFT principles as related to both electronic and mechanical fabrication and assembly processes.
  • Advanced communication, documentation and interpersonal skills; communicate issues to the Design Engineering Department.
  • Basic knowledge working with Microsoft Office and other related software utilizing a Windows platform.
  • Advanced background in schematic capture and circuit design.
  • Advanced experience and knowledge using software programs such as C#, C++, VB.NET., SQL.
  • Basic familiarity with data communication equipment, RF equipment, high volume manufacturing.
  • Capable of advanced understanding of RF and product circuits to component level.

 

Preferred:

 

  • Advanced background in microprocessor application development.
  • Familiarity with communication and network protocols (TCP/IP).
  • Knowledge of communications protocols.
  • Automation experience.

Physical Abilities:

  • Frequent walking/sitting.
  • Ability to travel via air or land 25% of the time.
