The Director, Quality will ensure compliance with regulatory bodies, establish and monitor internal processes to yield high quality products, manage supplier quality activities, determine root cause and implement corrective actions for non-conformances, formally report quality findings and statistics to internal and external customers for the ANSI Meter business.


  • Lead the ANSI Meters team in improving overall quality including supplier, product and process quality.
  • Drive internal, supplier and sub-supplier performance by identifying and driving supplier and internal process improvements, root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Coordinate initial correction and containment of all non-conformances identified in production and at suppliers.
  • Establish a structured approach to identify and improve quality assurance gaps.
  • Lead periodic and critical quality updates to senior leadership and other stakeholders on all quality metrics including supplier and RCA activity.
  • Drive continuous improvement activities internally and at suppliers to include product quality, cycle, and delivery performance through use of standard metrics, Six Sigma, Lean Six Sigma, and SPC methodology.
  • Improve Cost of Quality (COQ), First Pass Yields (FPY) and PPM/DPMO reduction activities internally and at the supply base. Establish process to ensure best practices and top suppliers are utilized. Develop and drive action plans to improve those metrics.
  • Drive productivity initiatives including cost savings projects.
  • Lead team in hosting and preparing for external audits and customer visits including agenda, scheduling, and resolution of audit findings from external sources.
  • Understand NPI (New Product Introduction) design intent and technical requirements to influence all Quality and SQE related activities within a NPI program to ensure deliverables are accurate and on schedule.
  • Maintain compliance of the production site to all applicable regulatory and quality standards, including safety.
  • Actively participate in the Supplier Quality Program to qualify new suppliers and improve quality of sourced assemblies, components and raw materials.
  • Drive supplier quality review rigor across supply base to include active participation from Engineering, Manufacturing, Sourcing, and Quality teams.
  • Prioritize and implement multiple concurrent test and quality improvement projects, alone or as part of a multifunctional team, to drive customer satisfaction and business productivity.



  • Bachelor Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related technical discipline.
  • Minimum of 10 years in a quality role with at least 4 of them in a production environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze problems, identify root causes and provide effective efficient solutions.
  • Experience with formal presentations of technical data and root cause/corrective action activities.
  • Proficiency with applicable quality and lean tools/techniques: FMEA, RCA/Apollo/KT, PPAP, PFD, Gage R&R, VSM, SPC, Poke Yoke, Kaizen and QMS methods.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills including strength in clear concise technical communications to internal teams, suppliers and external customers.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Proven record of effectively managing multiple priorities under tight deadlines while maintaining high attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficiency with MS SQL and Access queries and data mining.
  • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills.


  • Knowledge of compliance standards and regulatory requirements - ISO, UL, Measurement Canada, PUC’s.
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, schematics and specifications.
  • Demonstrated implementation of quality systems and quality improvement projects.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt certified.
  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer.
  • Familiarity with the utility industry including metering and communication devices.

Physical Demands:

  • Frequent sitting.
  • 15% travel.
