JOB SUMMARY:


The Director of Program Management Office (PMO) has considerable experience delivering new products and managing cross functional teams within the framework of the Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) and/or the New Product Introduction (NPI) process. He/she has keen abilities to organize and develop effective program teams that consistently deliver positive results. The Director has in-depth experience with development of PLM/NPI business processes, metrics, and with implementation of required operating mechanisms.


The Director will lead and participate in a wide range of cross-functional activities across the company, while managing Aclara’s team of Program Managers. A successful Director will be a role model to the program managers and other functional leaders participating in the PLM/NPI process. He/she will able to establish effective working relationships with the C-level executive team, functional leaders and teams of Engineers, Product Managers, Manufacturing, Software, Sales, Quality Assurance, and other Aclara resources.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Provide leadership, management and oversight of the PMO office, including career guidance and mentoring of program managers responsible for:
  • Development of the Integrated Program Plan (IPP),
  • Program execution monitoring and intervention,
  • Program quality and regulatory management, and
  • Execution of the customer satisfaction process.
  • Act as an expert resource and advisor to the Product Decision Board (PDB), Core Teams, and other program and/or project leads. 
  • Lead/facilitate the PLM/NPI process improvement planning and adoption (execution) across the company. Ensure alignment of all process reengineering efforts and effective integration of the existing processes with the PLM/NPI framework. Help coordinate applicable training and tools development. 
  • Provide C-level executive management with regular status updates for all PLM/NPI programs, including:
  • The company pipeline throughput,
  • Summary of key risks and opportunities,
  • Summary of staffing requests/assignments, and
  • Summary of programs financial information, contingencies and impacts on revenue projections.
  • Participate in other company initiatives (e.g., Creation of team building exercises, projects that may relate to sales, customer support, training, or engineering).
  • Build, evangelize and publicize the PMO strategy and benefits derived from the PLM/NPI improvements, including implementation of operating tools.


OTHER FUNCTIONS:

  • Employ key elements of the PLM/NPI process to help the business develop key performance indicators (KPIs) for management of ongoing operations. Help develop operating dashboards for key functions within the business.
  • Provide direction and advise teams on project selection, project integration, resources and prioritization. Ensure alignment with other process improvement work across the company.
  • Perform hands-on statistical analysis of operational data to help drive process improvement opportunities.

Qualifications

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, other relevant field.
  • 10 +years of directly relevant experience managing the implementation of complex new product development with 5 years of Engineering project management
  • Experience managing large scale projects in the electronics communications space or high speed manufacturing
  • Experience with setting up or participating in a successful Program Management Office (PMO).
  • Experience with structured Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) and/or New Product Introduction (NPI) processes and the framework implementation.
  • Proven track record of delivering new products
  • Experience managing cross-functional project teams and providing leadership and individual guidance to staff.
  • Experience working with outsourcing partners
  • Strong organizational, analytical and project management skills combined with technical aptitude.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills (written, verbal and interpersonal) including executive presence and communication with C-level executives.
  • Proven leadership skills, including effective organizational, team building and conflict resolution skills.
  • Experience managing large scope high-technology programs.
  • In-depth experience working with analyzing and developing new business processes
  • Strong knowledge of MS PowerPoint, MS Excel, MS Project.


PREFERRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

  • Advanced engineering or business degree.
  • Utility/energy industry experience, particularly related to AMI/metering systems
  • PMP Certified
