This is a hands-on management position. The key to this role is to spearhead the development efforts, coordinate the various team members, and provide technical leadership and expertise to organize and guide all aspects of firmware development.


  • Supervise and manage firmware the development team.
  • Assign tasks to team members, and review individual and team performance.
  • Document, monitor and improve the firmware process.
  • Participate in hardware, firmware and software development activities as a strong technical lead.
  • Develop, track and publish metrics.
  • Schedule and monitor design, code and test plan reviews.
  • Develop new techniques and apply existing techniques for designing and developing high reliability firmware.
  • Institute appropriate formal methods and procedures, including training as necessary.
  • Resolve conflicts, remove roadblocks, get answers to questions and concerns.
  • Develop and maintain project activity lists and schedules.
  • Facilitate project-related communications with other departments.
  • Support company business needs, strategy and vision.


Additional Responsibilities:

  • Continually evaluate new technologies, look for technical advancements
  • Develop and coach the FW team members to facilitate their professional development.
  • Keep cognizant of emerging technologies and markets.
  • Participate in industry standards development where appropriate.
  • Perform initial evaluations of relevant new technologies.
  • Contribute to budget planning and tracking.
  • Coordinate work with other departments, including Hardware Engineering, Marketing, Sales, Product Management, Customer Support, and Manufacturing.



  • Minimum of a Bachelor`s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science or Electrical Engineering.
  • Expert programmer in C language, others welcome.


  • 7 years’ experience in a previous lead or management role.
  • 7 years’ hands-on experience in design and development of embedded systems.
  • Advanced knowledge of development and debugging tools such as emulator, simulator and C compilers.
  • Advance knowledge in testing tools like logic analyzer, oscilloscope and function generators.
  • Knowledge in communications protocols and OSI stack.



  • Familiarity with communications, protocol selection, and network configuration.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, tenacity and patience to develop long-term customer relationships.
  • Organized; ability to multi-task and stay organized.
  • High energy, self-starter, with a proven track record in delivering results.
  • Strong critical thinking/problem solving skills.
  • Positive and proactive attitude and team building spirit.


Physical Demands:

  • Frequent sitting.
  • Limited travel.
